The demand for insulbar insulating profiles is high. And accordingly, Ensinger sends lots of transport containers on their travels, with thousands of stillages in circulation across the globe. They leave the factory tightly packed with insulbar profiles for thermal breaks in metal frames of windows, doors and façades. But they don’t always find their way back again. Ensinger wants to change this.
“Years ago now we decided on robust, reusable steel stillages as transport solutions for insulbar, since in our view disposable systems are not a sustainable approach”, says Jürgen Hollmayer, Project Manager for continuous improvement processes (CIP) at Ensinger in Cham. “But the cycle can only succeed if we make the customer more aware of the need to return the stillages promptly.”
For a long time now, precise records have been kept of where the stillages are located and how long they are in circulation for. “Sometimes, the transport racks are with the customer for months. But it doesn’t make sense for them to be standing around, unused”, explains Jürgen Hollmayer. “We are now actively approaching our customers, providing assistance when it comes to optimally filling the stillages and stacking them in a space-saving manner, and offering collection.”
The data collected is continuously analysed and compared with requirements planning. In this way, measures can be taken in good time to ensure sufficient delivery containers are always available. Owing to the very high current demand, Ensinger is asking all customers to make the stillages available for return to the factory as soon as possible, so they can be refilled with insulbar profiles.
