In January, Ensinger presented its greenest insulating bar to date for thermal breaks in the aluminium systems of windows, doors and façades. To make insulbar RE-LI, 100% unmixed recycled polyamide is used. As a result, 92% less fossil fuel is required, the CO2 emissions are 91% lower, and water consumption drops by 74%; all of this is confirmed by the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) issued by the ift Rosenheim.
The material, for which a Cradle-to-Cradle Material Health Certificate is now available, is also foamed during extrusion. This permits a reduction in the density and thermal conduction capacity. In the product optimum, the lambda value is a mere 0.21 W/(m⋅K). As with insulbar LI (Lambda Improved), the improved insulating effect helps to reduce energy consumption and the CO2 footprint throughout the entire life of the product.
Now, the suitability of the foamed recycled plastic for thermal breaks in composite metal-plastic profiles has been inspected and confirmed by Germany’s leading testing institute. The quality seal from the ift Rosenheim attests that all the requirements of the Guidelines of the German Institute of Structural Engineering (DIBt), Volume 17, No. 6 1986-12, Section 3, and those in accordance with EN 14024:2004-10, have been fulfilled.
insulbar RE-LI has also been given technical approval in Brussels. The ATG H730 certificate from the Belgian Union for Technical Approval in Construction (UBAtc) confirms important material properties and is checked in regular audits. The data recorded in the certificate, which can also be found in the datasheet for insulbar RE-LI are deemed a reference for national approval in several countries of the EU and far beyond.
In addition, the tests for the CSTB material assessment have been completed. The French Scientific and Technical Centre for Building (Centre Scientifique et Technique du Batiment) has confirmed the relevant properties and the suitability of insulbar RE-LI. From the autumn, window, door and façade systems with the environmentally friendly insulating profile can be registered for inspection for the purpose of issuing a QB label (Quality for Buildings, Qualité pour le Bâtiment).
