Our insulating bar insulbar LEF is a simple alternative to thermally insulating foam. It makes it possible to attain Uf values for metal frames which are equal to or – depending on the type of foam – even better than bars with foam incorporated. But there’s one difference: with insulbar LEF, the time-consuming cutting and subsequent insertion of foams is no longer required. Thus costly work steps can be dispensed with. In addition, insulbar LEF profiles can be powder-coated and anodized.
How insulbar LEF works
A Low-E film (LEF), applied to the flag of the polyamide bar, reflects the heat radiation between the inner and outer shell of the aluminum frame. The functional principle is the same as that of a thermos flask whose mirrored inner coating maintains the temperature for a long time by means of reflection.
The emissivity of the Low-E film corresponds to ε = 0.03 (standards and bases: EN 12898 and EN ISO 10456). This value can be used when providing calculation-based evidence in accordance with EN ISO 10077-2 and has been confirmed with a test certificate from the Institut für Fenstertechnik [Institute of Window Technology] ift Rosenheim.
Diverse applications
insulbar LEF insulating profiles are suitable for a wide variety of requirements and systems. This is because most geometries with flags are available ready-coated with Low-E film 12 ε 3 directly from the factory. All straight and offset bars or hollow chamber profiles with flags can be equipped with the Low-E film in every common profile length.
