A|U|F was founded in 1994 and reactivated as a registered association in 2010. It is an association sponsored by German metalworking companies, systems houses and other companies, and organises a closed loop system for aluminium used in windows, doors and façades.
Sustainability and responsibility, ecology and economics. Buzzwords that are often used nowadays. They play an important part in the construction sector, since recycling has become the norm for almost all products. Aluminium needs to be recycled because it is a very valuable material which can be recycled again and again without losing any of its properties. What is more, in the recycling process only half a kilogram of CO2 is generated per kilogram of aluminium – while with primary aluminium it is 10 kilograms.
The motivation of all those involved is the dedicated promotion of environmentally friendly and resource-conserving reuse and recycling of aluminium. The material stays within the European Community and its recycling system, there is no export outside of Europe. This helps to strengthen Europe as an economic area.
With targeted activities to raise awareness, the A|U|F provides information about the benefits of the valuable and ecologically compatible material aluminium, and the advantages of the A|U|F closed loop. (Source: www.a-u-f.com)
